Carnelian is a hard reddish-brown variety of chalcedony. Carnelian is said to protect the wearer from anger, jealousy and fears, bringing serenity. It was used widely during ancient Roman times to make signet or seal rings for imprinting a seal with wax on correspondence or other important documents. Hot wax does not stick to Carnelian.
